Jordan Says:
Help Students Debate Across the Nation and the World

Fall semester Eagle debate teams challenged the best and brightest at Oxford, Cambridge, LA, Hawaii and Canada.

We hosted the Chinese National Debate team and debated on the Microsoft campus.

We sponsored our first large tournament on campus in the spring and plan to sent students to Denver for nationals.

Next year we plan to send teams to Vermont, New York, Yale.

All of this travel is costly and we would greatly benefit from your show of support.

Your gift of $100, $200 or even fully sponsoring a student for $700 will mean so much to our students as they travel to compete with the best and brightest in the world.

But, even a small gift of $25 will help.

Think back on how meaningful your college days were, then consider affirming of the value of debating with a  tax-deductible gift.  Help create more life long college memories.

Sincerely,   Jordan Goddard,

Friends of Northwest Eagle Debate President,
Former Debate Team Captain class of 2005

Note from Coach:

Attention Alumni--remember that scholarship that you received that helped you pay for college? Some of you received more than $10,000 in debate scholarships. Why not return some of that same kind of investment to students who need your help? Even $25 would help.

About our 2009 UK Debate Trip

Josh Brittingham

Team Captain in 2000, Josh graduated from the University of California,
Los Angeles Law School in May 2008. He now practices law in Seattle.

"Debate has certainly been central to my development as a public speaker.  And it can even open doors.  I recently participated in a moot court competition here at law school and one of the judges – an attorney in real life – was so impressed he offered to help me get a job at his firm, a large international firm with a presence in L.A.  So you can relate to your students that public speaking skills are certainly valued!" -- Josh

Newsweek on Evangelical College debaters:

Why evangelicals are mastering the art of college debate.

By Susannah Meadows
Newsweek/ Feb. 6, 2006

"Debaters are the new missionaries, having realized they can save a lot more souls from a seat at the top—perhaps even on the highest court in the land. "Evangelicals have always wanted to persuade people to the faith," says John Green, a senior fellow at the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. "The new thing is that evangelicals want to be more involved in the world now." More
