Associate Professor Gary
Gillespie has taught
communication and speech
courses since 1980. He came to Northwest University the fall of 1985. During
his career as an instructor and debate coach, he has critiqued 5,000
student speeches.
Gillespie
coaches the Northwest University debate team, which in the last nine years placed high in the
National Parliamentary Debate Association
national sweepstakes. The team placed tenth in the nation out
of 277 institutions in 2000.The Eagle Debate team has made final rounds at
every NPDA national tournament
from 1996 to 2005. He has the third longest tenure of all debate
coaches in the five northwest states and is on the executive council of the
Northwest Intercollegiate Debate League.
