College of Education undergraduate candidates take part in an International Experience in May term of their junior year in program. Through this experience, we hope to give all of our COE undergraduate candidates a broad perspective of educational processes and approaches. Four goals drive our international requirement:
- We want to create greater diversity in our candidate experience;
- We want our candidates to experience the educational philosophies, strategies, and processes of diverse constituencies;
- We want our candidates to experience cultures outside the U.S., helping to broaden their perspectives and understanding of the funds-of-knowledge and cultural differences that their P-12 students bring;
- We want to foster holistic and multi-cultured teacher-candidates for an increasingly multi-cultural P-12 teaching world.
