Multiple Positions, Willow Public School , Walla Walla, WA (Posted 1/23/17)

Willow Public School in Walla Walla is looking for teachers to join our founding team! Are you adventurous? Do you believe teaching can change the lives of children, help families, and improve our community? Do you have a start-up mindset, and are you able to be part of a fast-moving team? Do you believe learning should be filled with passion and joy? If so, Willow might be just the school you are looking for.

Willow is committed to having a diverse staff. There is no question that student achievement increases when their teachers and other school staff reflect their culture and speak their language. A majority of Willow students come from low income families, and many of them are Latino. Our goal is to hire a diverse staff that is reflective of the population we serve.

What does it mean to be a Willow Teacher?
Teaching at Willow Public School will be unlike most other teaching jobs. You will be a founding teacher. How exciting is that! You will be the first to take this journey with us and our students.

You will be operating in a creative and collaborative environment. The teachers we hire will have the desire and skill to create and deliver high quality instruction to kids who are the most underserved in our community: students impacted by poverty, students of color, and students who need a smaller, more personalized learning environment.

You will implement restorative practices so that students learn from mistakes, rather than simply being punished without the ability to take responsibility and repair harm. Community is a core value of ours and teachers will work on this daily with their students.

Willow teachers  work together. Using project-based learning as a delivery model, our teachers  build interdisciplinary projects that are based in the Common Core standards, and also provide students the opportunity to learn real world skills. Teaching and learning is filled with wonder, joy, and purpose. When we describe our model to adults they almost always say “I want to go to a school like that!”

All teachers work hard. At Willow, teaching will be different.  You will be expected to interact closely with families, plan events, attend our summer “Boost Camp” before students start for the year, be a “Crew” advisory leader, and work a longer school year. This sounds like a lot. This is a lot. But the payoff is huge: you will be an important part of the Willow team. Most importantly, you will play a defining role in a child’s life. And that lasts forever.

So, do you think you have what it takes to join Team Willow? If so, click one of the links below to apply.

Principal, Southside Christian School , Spokane, WA (Posted 1/23/17)

Southside Christian School is looking for a Principal for the 2017-2018 school year. We will be looking for a higher ed student who has already experienced the “battlefield” of the classroom, is a person of faith and believes in the mission of our school. We prefer a master’s degree and would be overjoyed about someone with higher level administrative training.

Though we can’t match the salary Spokane Public School districts offer at the administrative level, we realize there are people of faith out there would would love to live here in Spokane. This job is also enticing for those who wish to provide faith-based education for their own children in a state accredited school. Most of our teachers have master’s degrees and prefer teaching smaller class sizes as well as raising their own children in a small school.

Another selling point of our school is we are not looking for the typical classical “headmaster.” We are one of the only Christian Schools that does not require parents/students to be churched or people of faith, as long as they understand we ARE a Christian School and teach from a Biblical worldview. Our staff and student population represent around 67 different churches in the area…We are not legalistic or exclusive and we do have a special education classroom. These are rare attributes for a private ecumenical Christian school.

AVID Coach – Northwest University

Want to be a teacher? Like working with students? Have a heart for service?

Each year, the School of Education at Northwest partners with the Bellevue School District to provide academic coaches for the district’s AVID program. Northwest students work together with classroom teachers to help small groups of middle and high school students gain the academic skills and resources not only to get in to college, but to thrive once they’re there.

So – if you can see yourself working closely with small groups of students, if you love to learn about how to learn, and if you can commit to two hours per week this coming fall, being an AVID coach may be perfect for you. Contact Dr. Jeremy Delamarter for more information by emailing jeremy.delamarter@northwestu.edu.
