Summer 2011
Barb and Weldyn Houger:
Barb and Weldyn find great joy and satisfaction working with students preparing them for intercultural, cross-cultural, and multi-cultural contexts. It is a delight to hear the students stories on their semester abroad, internships, and other mission ventures.
Not only does Barb and Weldyn coordinate and teach the course for Intercultural Studies Program, they are full time Assemblies of God World Missionaries for the Asia Pacific Region. They direct and coordinate the activities and ministries for the Asia Pacific Education Office, which includes travels to the Bible schools when NU is on their breaks.
This summer (2011) they have been in Mongolia (taught two courses), helped in the early stages of the formation of a formal Bible school training Laotians, co-taught a class in Hong Kong, and taught two courses at Immanuel Bible College, Cebu, Philippines. In addition to the teaching load, they helped these schools with accreditation needs and curriculum development needs. Also, they worked with specific educational needs in Papua New Guinea, Samoa, American Samoa and Bangkok, Thailand.
The Hougers count it a privilege to minister to the students at Northwest University. At the same time it is a joy and honor to serve the Bible schools in the Asia Pacific Region.
Picture Right: Three NU gals who are in their first week of their Semester Abroad. They are doing well and adjusting to life in Bangkok. They took a taxi to the train station, then took one train to a place where they connected to another train and then took a Public Water Taxi boat to the Grand Palace. A great day in the sun was had by all!
