Washington State Teacher Certification
***NOTICE:*** As of October 1, 2011, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction will be charging a $33.00 transaction fee each time a new certificate is issued or a change/addition is made to an existing certificate.
Residency Certification
These forms will be explained in detail during the Student Teaching Professional Seminar.
Certification paperwork for Fall 2011 is due on October 18th with a check made out to Northwest University for certification fees. Certification fees are $33.00 transaction fee, $35.00 for the first endorsement, and $15.00 for each additional endorsement.

Testing Requirements for Residency Certification
Passing the WEST-E Content Knowledge Exam in your endorsement area is required before you can be recommended for certification. Please use the links below to register and prepare for the exam.

Adding Endorsements
Endorsements can be added to your certificate through three pathways:
Pathway 1 – Selected endorsements whose instructional methodology and content-related skills are compatible with an endorsement already held may be added by:
Passing the Praxis II in the desired endorsement; and
Verifying at least 90 days of teaching experience in the endorsement already held.
Pathway 2 – Endorsements available via Pathway 2 may be added by:
Passing the Praxis II in the desired endorsement; and
Verifying at least 90 days of teaching experience in the endorsement already held; and
Passing a college-administered pedagogy assessment in the desired endorsement.
Pathway 3 – Complete a full endorsement program.

This certificate allows you to substitute for only your cooperating teacher. Please read through the Application Instructions before completing the application since it will save you from filling out unnessary portions of the application.

Professional Placement File
Agreements and Forms
Your placement file is a professional document that is sent to school districts at your request. It contains personal and professional information and references. You will need to complete each of the templates and request references from at least two professional sources (excluding your cooperating teacher and University supervisor) using the form below.
These forms will be explained in detail in the Student Teaching Professional Seminar.

Use this form to request a reference for your placement file. Print and complete the form. Provide a stamped, addressed envelope with each reference request.

Placement File Request
Use the form below to request that a placement file be sent to a school district or private school. The cost of a Placement File Package (which includes the completed forms indicated above, a letter from the Dean, as well as your letters of recommendation) is $5.00 per package. Letters of recommendation only can be sent at no cost to you (please indicate ‘letters only’). Multiple requests can be submitted on the same form. Please complete the form below and direct your requests to:

Feel free to print the form and mail or personally submit it to the School of Education office as well. We will accept Visa, MasterCard, Check, or Cash.
*Note: Transcripts, Resumes, and Personal Cover Letters are NOT included in your Placement File. Transcripts can be requested through the Registrar’s Office.
