Application Instructions

The application link will take you to the NursingCAS log-in page. NursingCAS is the centralized application service used by the Buntain School of Nursing. You will need to follow the steps listed below.

  • Create an account
  • Select the Full Programs List tab
  • Locate Northwest University under the School drop-down box
  • Click on the blue box next to Northwest University

NOTE: The NursingCAS application shows the Reference Instructions under the “Evaluation Tab”

The Buntain School of Nursing requires two references for each applicant.

Applicants must:

  1. Ensure selected references follow directions as indicated by NursingCAS.
  2. Clearly communicate with each reference the requirements to be addressed in the reference letter (see below).

In order for a reference to be complete, all areas of the form must be filled in by the reference.

  • Name
  • Title
  • Occupation
  • Organization
  • E-Mail address
  • Daytime Phone
  • How long have you know the applicant?
  • How well do you know the applicant?
  • In what capacity do you know the applicant? (If this cannot be answered on the NursingCAS form it must be included in the letter)
  • Student rating section (Check “Not Observed” box if necessary)

Required Reference Letters

  1. Christian Leader Reference

NOTE: Must not be a family member.

Five areas must be addressed in the reference letter from the Christian Leader. The applicant is responsible to communicate clearly with the reference the five points to be addressed.

  • Describe ways the applicant demonstrates Christ in his/her life-style.
  • What is the applicant’s attitude toward service?
  • Describe ways the applicant reflects leadership ability.
  • Describe qualities the applicant exhibits that may contribute to an effective nursing career.
  • Additional comments regarding this applicant are welcome

Faculty Reference

NOTE: Reference must be college level faculty and not a family member.

Five areas must be addressed in the reference letter from the college level faculty. The applicant is responsible to communicate clearly with the reference the five points to be addressed.

  • Describe qualities the applicant exhibits that may contribute to an effective nursing career.
  • Describe ways the applicant reflects leadership ability.
  • What do you consider some of the candidate’s strengths?
  • Describe the applicant’s ability to work in a team with other students.
  • Comment on the applicant’s attendance, punctuality, and timeliness in meeting assignment deadlines.

The ATI TEAS is used at part of the admissions process by Nursing and Allied Health schools nationwide.

  • Passing score is 71.3 or above
  • Exam scores less than 71.3 must be retaken

Policy of the Buntain School of Nursing regarding the ATI TEAS:

  • Maximum three attempts
  • Minimum three months between each attempt

NursingCAS only processes complete applications.

  • A complete application requires an ATI TEAS score sheet, passing or not
  • Applications are not processed without an ATI TEAS score sheet
  • Decisions are not issued without an ATI TEAS score sheet
