Vision Statement

To foster relationships, community, and spiritual growth through the fellowship of small groups made up of all members of the Northwest University community by carrying the call: heart, head and hand.

Small Groups

The driving force behind Small Groups is passion.  The groups are established on the "free market principle" and are Need- and/or Interest-based.  Each group has its own vision, purpose, function or focus upon which it establishes its identity.  All of the Small Groups are open to any who can relate to or are passionate about the focus of that particular group.  The groups are on a Semester Rotation; at each semester break, new groups are formed and new leaders can get involved (although the development process of creating new groups is on-going, the semester breaks are the definite beginning and end).

The Chapel time of the first Wednesday of every month is given solely to Small Groups.  A meeting place must be organized by the Small Group leader and communicated with those in the group.  Credit for chapel that day will not be given to students who do not participate with their group.

Small Group Leaders

Any person who can demonstrate a willingness, vision, and ability to lead a group, and who completes the application and is accepted by the Associated Student Body & Campus Ministries Departments of Northwest University.  All applications can be picked up and returned to the Campus Ministries Office.

Small Group Leader Responsibilities

  • Establishing a Vision
The main task of a leader is to establish a vision that people will follow.  Each group must rally around a specific point of focus or meeting a specific need.
  • Recruiting a Group
The leader is responsible for recruiting his or her group.  The leader needs to clearly communicate the goal and direction of the group, as to find others who share their passion.
  • Leaders Meetings
Occur three times a semester to coordinate with ASB & Campus Ministries leaders for evaluation, direction, and encouragement.  These meetings are MANDATORY for Small Group Leaders and vital for the life of the ministry.
  • Small Group Meetings
A leader must commit to meet with ones group at a minimum of two times a month.  Each time the leader is responsible to take attendance and submit the attendance list to the campus ministries office for chapel credit.  It is recommended that the leader take advantage of the open chapel day given to small groups the last Wednesday of each month.

Members

Anyone in the Northwest University community is invited and encouraged to participate in a Small Group.

Small Group Catalog

We are going to publish a catalog that will outline all the Small Groups with a picture of the leader and/or group, brief statement describing the focus or emphasis of the group and the contact information of the leader.  This catalog will be published online, on the Small Group Bulletin Board in the Pecota Student Center, in the LINKS catalog, and in a separate brochure.
