Purpose of NU Ministry Teams
To use the performing arts talents of Northwest University students to represent Jesus Christ and the University through ministry and public relations service to churches, and camps.

Current Opportunities

Chapel Worship Teams – Involvement in Chapel Worship throughout the semester

Crossing Summer Ministry Team - Involvement in music team during school year as well as summer travel to camps, churches, and conferences.

Audition Dates

September 20th – Chapel Worship Team/Crossing Auditions – 4:00pm to 7:00pm in Butterfield Chapel

To be considered for inclusion on a Chapel Worship Team or Crossing Summer Ministry Team you need to sign up for audition slot, fill out a Ministry Team Application, and turn it into the office by September 19th.

Time slot sign ups are in the Campus Ministries Office located in the Pecota Student Center next to Perch Lounge.

Audition Details for Chapel Worship Teams & Crossing Summer Ministry Teams

- You will have a 15 minute audition in Butterfield Chapel.
- You will be asked to perform one song as listed below along with other members of a band.
- Students who play more than one instrument are asked to audition once for what they view to be their strongest instrument
- Students who are interested in being a team leader will be asked to audition both their vocal and their lead instrument, if they play one.
- There is one audition process for Chapel Worship & Crossing Summer Ministry Team.
- You can designate on your application if you are interested in being a part of Crossing in addtion to Chapel Worship.
- The Crossing Team will be selected at a later date in the semester.

What to Bring

Bring yourself, your instrument to your audition. We will have a drum kit and a keyboard set up for those trying out for those instruments, so you will not need to bring your own. If you will need to look off your music chart, bring that as well.

Requirements and Expectations

Chapel Worship Team Expectations

• Chapel Worship teams are involved in NU weekly chapel services by facilitating an environment of worship for students, faculty, and staff.
• Chapel Worship Teams are about 5 to 8 members large
• Each team will commit to lead in chapel about 6 times per semester depending on scheduling.  When teams lead they are required to have a sound check prior to chapel as well as play for both chapel services on their scheduled day.
• Each Team has a team leader that not only leads worship in chapel, but also gives direct leadership to their team. This involves selecting music, running practices, making sure their team members are on time and prepared to facilitate an environment of worship in weekly chapels.
• Each team will have practices outside of the normal sound check prior to chapel.

Summer Ministry Team (SMT) Expectations

• GPA of at least 2.5
• Passing Chapel status
• Good citizenship standing
• Good attitude towards leadership and team members
• T.O.P Gun Training (For Summer Ministry Team involvement only)

T.O.P. Gun SMT Training

• T.O.P Gun is a Training, Orientation, and Preparation class that all Summer Ministry Team members will be enlisted in for the Spring ‘10 semester. The class takes place on Thursdays at 3:30 pm during second semester.
• Students will receive 5 elective credits for T.O.P gun. Credits can only be received once.
• You will receive training in a number of critical areas including, altar work, counseling, public relations, first aid, etc.
• You will have required practice and performance times during the course of T.O.P. gun, as well as required meetings with your mentor.
• You will be regularly asked to show your repertoire to your mentor and/or the entire T.O.P Gun class, and are expected to have a completed repertoire by the end of May.
