Virus Prevention

Please take the following steps to help ensure your computer system is up-to-date and protected against virii and worms.

Keep your Software Updated

Both Windows and Mac OS have built-in system update software.

  • Windows Vista & Windows 7: Go to your Start Menu and select All Programs > Windows Update.
  • Windows XP: Go to the Windows Update Website (www.update.microsoft.com) and scan your machine.
  • Mac OS X: Go to your Apple menu, and choose Software Update.

Install a Virus Scanner

All computers should have antivirus software installed. Antivirus software is required to use the campus network (both wired and wireless connections).
