Driver License

You need 3 things in order to get your driver’s license:
1.  SEVIS record – Please complete this form so we can print off your SEVIS record.
2.  Required ID – You must bring identification as shown on this page.
3.  Cash, check, or money order to pay the fees.

Tips for getting your license:
1.  DOL website: http://www.dol.wa.gov
2.  Go prepared—be sure to bring all required documents and enough money.  Understand what you need to do to get your driver license: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/18over.html. The requirements are different depending on your age, driving experience, and license history. Also understand what ID you need to bring: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/idproof.html.
3.  Go early—The DOL is famous for a long wait time. Check the DOL website for estimated wait times. If you go during the middle of the day, bring homework or something to do.
4.  To obtain a driver’s license you must pass a written knowledge test and a driving test. For preparation study guides are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Russian. PDF versions are available at: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/guide.html
