Campus Crime and Fire Reports

The Federal Campus Security Act was originally signed into law in 1990. It was amended in 1998. Today it is commonly known as the Clery Campus Security Act. The intent of the legislation is to disclose criminal activity occurring on campus and provide a timely warning of crime. Northwest University strongly supports these goals. Our crime reporting procedure, through the office of the Vice President for Student Development and the Campus Security Department insures that criminal activity on campus is effectively tracked and reported.

The language of the Clery Act defines “campus” as any building or property owned or under the control of an institution within the same contiguous geographic area, used by the institution in the direct support of, or in any manner related to the institutions educational purposes.

The act requires annual reporting of the number of specified criminal offenses that were reported to Campus Security and or local police information about campus security policies and procedures. Statistics are reported for the most recent calendar year and the two previous years, and must be released to the university community by October.
