Emergency Notification System

Why

Northwest University’s Emergency Notification System (ENS), more commonly known at NU Alerts, is in place to provide rapid incident communication through multiple media to the NU community. The ENS addresses the reporting requirements of the 2008 Higher Education Opportunity Act.

Who

The entire NU community should be aware of the Emergency Notification System. This includes the following groups:

  • Students
  • Parents
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Visitors
  • Vendors
  • Contractors

What

NU Alerts provide critical incident information, disseminated by the following methods:

  • SMS texts (short, concise messages sent to up to two mobile devices)
  • Email (multiple accounts may be registered)
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • NU’s Eagle Home Page
  • Message content generally includes what is happening and where, what to do, and how to get more information.

    The Process

You must have an account setup with our provider to receive NU Alerts. During each semester’s registration period, students are encouraged to opt-in for receiving NU Alerts. Faculty and staff can sign up for NU Alerts at any time.

Go to Campus Alerts to sign up or to manage your account.

All accounts will expire at the end of the academic year (Aug 31) and must be renewed to continue receiving NU alerts. All expired accounts will be deleted two months later (Oct 30).

    Tests

Tests of the ENS will be conducted on a regular basis.

    Problems/Questions

If you have a problem or question regarding the ENS including the setup or management of your account please email Security.
