NU Focus Spring 2012

Christian Ethics in a Postmodern World

Engaging the NU community in a conversation about Christian ethics and the dilemmas that often lead to controversy, the spring 2012 NU Focus is titled Christian Ethics in a Postmodern World.

Every semester the campus learning community participates in a focused conversation about essential issues that surface at the intersection of Christian faith and society. Themes over the past two years include social justice, relationships and sexuality, cultural intelligence, stewardship, and innovation. NU Focus is more than just a single session event. Movies, lectures, chapel services, group activities, service learning, panel discussions, and community outreach serve as venues where this exploration takes place over the course of a semester.

Ethics is the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group. During this era of gene research, factory farming, and downloadable music it is important for students to consider where they, as Christians, stand on certain issues. This semester, NU Focus will facilitate discussions and lectures with outside speakers, Northwest University faculty, and students regarding ethical issues and dilemmas in an effort to support the holistic education experience. Explore with us this semester’s NU Focus theme, Christian Ethics in a Postmodern World, and be prepared to wrestle with difficult and invigorating issues.
