When The Son sets you free, you are free indeed!
Over thousands of years God communicated through various means, including the declaration of His glory via the planets & stars and revelation of His plans through Moses and the prophets, but His ultimate means of communication is His Son, Jesus. Put in other terms, God chooses to relate and communicate through incarnation. Knowing “the medium is the message”, God sets us free from our former bondage, makes us His own, and through us invites others to be free and live holy in Jesus.
For many years Jesus has shown Himself through me as I worked as an attorney, volunteered as a coach and with various non-profit organizations, and came truly alive through grace as pastor of a small group of Jesus followers. The integration of faith with all aspects of life moved from a conscious act requiring focused thought to an incarnational experience of Christ living in and through me by the power of His Spirit. Kindness, patience, peace, goodness, love, gentleness, and increasingly joy are seen in relationships as brief as a conversation or as long as a lifetime as, in faith, we walk by means of the Spirit. I teach students in a number of subjects, but what I seek to impart is encouragement to an incarnational life of dependence upon, and trust in, God. Hence I have adopted a “tag line” for my NU correspondence: Know Whose you are and live who you are.
In 2008, God called me and my wife of 40 years to move to Seattle and pursue strategic service in His Kingdom among students. We moved in the Spring of 2009, and in the Summer of that year Northwest University offered me my first university teaching role –”Speaking Before Groups” in LEAP.
