NEW Loan Process for 2010-2011

Northwest University will be transitioning from the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), and will be participating in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (DL) Program for Stafford and PLUS Loans.

Students and parents will borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education instead of through the private banks and lenders who participated in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).  All terms and conditions to repay loans remain the same.

A Direct Loan (DL) Master Promissory Note (MPN) will be required for all new DL Stafford and PLUS borrowers.  (A Direct Loan MPN will need to be completed, even if a FFELP MPN for a loan is on file.)

Parent PLUS Loan borrowers are also required to complete a parent PLUS Authorization form.  This is scheduled to be available by April 1st via the Direct Loan website.

Entrance Counseling is required for first time Stafford and Grad PLUS borrowers.

2010 State Support of Higher Education Students

Northwest University is required to provide students with information on the estimated amount the state is contributing to the support of their education: The estimated amount of state supported financial aid by student FTE (Full Time Equivalent) at Northwest University is $1,077.  This amount was derived by dividing the total projected financial aid for the 2009-2010 academic year by the estimated number of full-time equivalent students, to arrive at the approximate amount of state supported financial aid per enrolled student FTE.  (The estimated 2010 state supported financial aid by institution includes both need based and non-need based assistance).
