LEAP Operation Feed Seattle

Dear LEAP Students,
I want to thank all of you who participated in LEAP’s Operation Feed Seattle program earlier this month. I thought you all would like to see the photos from this event on the University's home page.  Click on "More Information" below to view the pictures.

2010 LEAP April Advising Appointments

If you are a student who joined us in October or in April, you will need to sign up for an advising appointment with your advisor to plan your next semester.  We have created online calendars which will allow you to book your own appointment with your advisor.  Please select the advising calendar for your advisor (below this announcement) by clicking on "More Information" under their name to access their advising appointment calendars.

Please note that the registration for the Spring semester is now open and registration instructions for the new Self-Service program are posted on the LEAP webpage/Student Resources.

Advising Appointment with Dr. Doty

For advisees of Dr. Doty, please click on "More Information" below to access his advising appointment calendar.  If you are a cohort student and Dr. Doty has already communicated with you regarding your upcoming semester, then you won’t need to sign up for advising.

Get your NU email on your personal computer

If you wish to use your own email account to receive NU emails, you may setup email forwarding. This will send all email you receive at your NU address to an alternate address.
To setup this feature, take the following steps:
1. Log in to the @northwestu.edu email box.
2. Select "Rules" from the bottom of the left pane.
3. Choose "New" from the icons at the top of the Rules page.
4. Select "Forward it to" and type an e-mail address in the box.
5. Uncheck "Keep a copy in my inbox" unless you want a copy left at this address.
6. Click "Save and Close" at the top of the window.

Your mail will now be forwarded to the provided address.
Please Note: Northwest University cannot guarantee email delivery outside of the Northwest University mail system.

Campus Alerts Reminder

Announcement from the NU Security Director:

Sign up for Campus Alerts so we can communicate with you when something is happening.  You can sign up by going to the Eagle homepage and clicking on the Campus Alerts tab.  Please be aware that this has to be done every year.  Your campus alerts subscription has an expiration.  If you don't know yours, check it.

Prepare yourself personally by keeping disaster response supplies available - go to the "more information" link below  and check out what you need to make a plan, build a kit, and get involved.

Math Center

The Math Center is located in HSC room 248, and is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  The mission of the math/science center is to provide additional instruction and assistance to students participating in Math and Science classes as a part of the LEAP program.  You can sign up for a tutoring session  by simply clicking on the "more information" link and following the instructions. 

•  Each session is 30 minutes long, but feel free to sign up for multiple slots.
•  You can sign up for individual or group sessions, although the tutor will accommodate no more than 8 students at a time.
•  You can drop in for a session, but scheduled students get priority.
•  If you are more than 5 minutes late for your appointment, you may forfeit the session to a student who drops in for assistance. However, if you know that you will be a few minutes late, call Daniela at (425)889-7793 and she will communicate with the tutor to hold the spot.
•  You must remove your name from the schedule if you cannot attend your session.
•  The tutor doesn't know everything. While she is extremely knowledgeable and capable of assisting you, please remember that you are responsible for the assignments you submit and cannot hold the tutor responsible for the grade you earn.

Writing Center

The Writing Center is located in Williams Hall, right next to the Academic Success office (W-10) and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  The mission of the Writing Center is first to help students become better writers and second, to help writers become more self-sufficient and confident by providing them with attention, tools, and time to facilitate the writing process.

•  Students can sign up for a Writing Center session by simply clicking on the "more information" link below and following the instructions.
•  Each session is 30 minutes long.
•  Students can drop in for a session, but scheduled writers get priority.
•  If a student is more than 5 minutes late, he/she may forfeit your session to a writer who drops in for assistance. However, if the student knows that he/she will be a few minutes late, he/she can call the Academic Success Office at (425)889-5227 and they will communicate with the tutor to hold the spot.
