About Me

I am grateful to have joined the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northwest University in 2018. I have long sought to integrate my clinical and theological backgrounds with my love for teaching and formation, and I am pleased to have settled at a University that encourages such integration.

Prior to Northwest University, I have woven together a career as a counselor, pastor and educator. I have maintained a private practice since 2006, working with couples, families and individuals seeking healing and peace. Much of this work has been with those who have experienced some form of trauma that resulted in a life of shame and stunted emotional experience. I have taught as Assistant Professor at both the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Saint Mary’s College of California, and have served in the pastorate in Oregon, Colorado, and Montana.

I have been married to my wife, Heidi, since 1997, who shares my love for the outdoors and the life of the mind, and we are blessed with four children, Aspen (18), Chloe (14), Sierra (13), and Kilian (10).
