Biography & Academic Interests

Mary Ewart joined the College of Education as an adjunct professor in 2017, and became a full-time professor in Fall 2017. Prior to joining Northwest, she taught middle school and high school math and science and also worked as a Professional Learning Specialist, providing continuing education to current classroom teachers. She loves being in higher education and having the opportunities to build relationships and learn together with students who will be teaching in K-12 classrooms.

Academically, her areas of interest focus on how to effectively mentor and supervise student teachers for optimal growth and success and effective math intervention with a focus on changing the mathematical mindset of the students. Learning and growing and discovering new ways to think about learning are one of her favorite activities.

When Not at Northwest

Blessed with a husband, two children, and two dogs, when not at work, she is often found at some sort of children’s activity (or in the car getting to one). Aside from that, she enjoys knitting, cycling, reading, hiking, taking long walks with the dogs, coloring, kayaking, and playing all kinds of board games.
