The Costs of Studying
Studying in the United States can be quite expensive compared to other countries. Please note that international students at NU pay the same amount as domestic students, unlike public colleges and universities in the United States.
If you are wanting an exact breakdown of costs for the entire duration of your program, please speak with your enrollment counselor or Student Financial Services.
The above costs reported on an international student’s I-20. Below is a detailed breakdown of each category. Please note again that what students pay in reality, especially with personal costs, is not necessarily accurately reflected on the I-20.
- Tuition for 1 academic year – this cost depends on how much tuition is for each program
- Fees – program dependent
- Room & Board – this cost is calculated by the cost of an NU shared dorm room for 1 academic year. Students living off-campus will pay a different amount in reality, but this is the cost NU reports to the government to standardize student costs.
- Other costs – this figure includes the cost of NU’s health insurance and the average cost of textbooks. Students may pay more or less depending on their situation.
You can look at the Scholarships page for information on how to qualify for a scholarship.
