Remembering Puni Mikaele

We are saddened to announce that this morning Security Officer Puni Mikaele suffered what appears to have been a heart-attack and passed away suddenly while at the Security desk.

Puni has been a beloved member of our community for several years as the Northwest University Site Supervisor for Puget Sound Security. He was a proud Marine Corps veteran who had received the Silver Star in Vietnam for his valorous action during Operation Dewey Canyon.

We are all saddened by this loss, and on campus counseling resources are available to assist in the process of grieving. The Counseling Center extension is 5280, and the Campus Ministries extension is 5307. Please don’t hesitate to contact them if you’d like to talk about this with someone.

The family has setup a memorial fund through Puni’s granddaughter Kassandra Mikaele. You may go to any Wells Fargo Bank and mention that you would like to contribute to the “Puni Mikaele Donation Fund”.
