Background

With an interest in biology and chemistry and with dual nationality, I moved to the Netherlands in 2001 to spend more time with my Dutch family and attend Leiden University. I spent a year taking Dutch language and culture courses before starting my chemistry degree. Having grown up mostly in the US and having been homeschooled, I grew a lot during that time both in my world perspective and faith. My personal relationship with the Lord, that He graciously grants us, became more personal, more mature. Academically, my interest in life’s complexities led me to complete a masters in biochemistry in 2009. During my masters, I came back to the US through an exchange program and thoroughly enjoyed working at the undergraduate college. I decided to move back to the US for my PhD to pursue an academic position sharing the knowledge I had gathered and research into the biochemical processes that drive life. I am excited to be able to do that here at NU and to walk alongside so many fellow believers.
