In order for International Student Services to issue an I-20, we also need an acceptance letter from Northwest University for the program the student is applying to. The student will also show this letter during their visa interview and at the port of entry.
Here is an example of an acceptance letter with the necessary information for immigration. We primarily need 7 things:
- Name of student. We need their full name!
- Student’s address. If they are coming in on an initial I-20 (brand new student), then please put their home address in their country even if they have a U.S. address.
- Date of letter
- Name of the program
- Expected start date (ie. Fall 2016)
- Letter should be on letterhead and/or include a seal or NU logo
