The First Few Days

This information is primarily for CELE and undergraduate students.  Graduate students, please speak with your enrollment counselor or program coordinator about orientation times.  Typically, graduate students have a 4-hour orientation on one day and that is it.

Day 1: Arrival

  • If we pick you up from the airport, we will take you to the store to get school supplies, dorm bedding, towels, and toiletries.
  • You will check-in to your on-campus housing (if you are living on campus).  You will sign housing paperwork and policy agreements.
  • If you are coming from overseas, you will have jet lag and be very tired!  make sure you get a lot of sleep the first night.

Days 2-4: Orientation

  • During these days, you will be getting to know the campus, NU students, staff and faculty, and more.
  • You will be very busy.  You will need to rest and recharge.
  • Be as involved as possible!  The more involved you are in the first few days, the better connected you will be with everyone during the rest of the school year.

Day 5: First day of Classes

  • Remember to look at your class schedule the day before you start classes.
  • You might want to walk around campus and check where your classes are located.  Sometimes classes are difficult to find.
  • Come to class prepared and on-time.  NU professors appreciate students that are punctual and ready to learn.

Please wait a moment...
