What to Bring
Below is information primarily for undergraduate or CELE students wishing to live on campus.
Warm Clothes
Seattle has cool and wet weather in the winter and spring. It is good to bring layers of clothes as well as jackets and shoes that are waterproof.
Adaptors
You may need an adaptor to plug in your electronic device, as international plugs do not always fit in U.S. outlets.
Money
Unit you get a bank account setup in the United States, you should have cash or a credit card that works in the U.S. You should have enough cash to last you a few weeks until you can open a bank account and wire money. Here is a list of expected expenses:
- $75 for bedding and dorm set-up (if you buy things in the U.S.)
- $20 toiletries
- $20-30 for snacks and food
- $250 for textbooks
- $100 for a prepaid phone (if necessary)
- $25 for a bank deposit to open a checking account (if necessary)
Dorm Set Up
If you are living in the dorms, these are things you should bring or purchase when you arrive:
- Twin Extra-Long Sheets
- Blanket
- Pillow and Pillow Case
- Hangars
- Detergent for washing your clothes
