Step 1: Review our Frequently asked questions
Please feel free to take a look at our FAQ page linked on the right hand side of this page.
Step 2: Forms
Students who Have Not Submitted Application for their Educational Benefits through VA:
The VA explains that it may take between 30-45 days to process initial applications. We can not certify your courses until this form has been processed and we receive your Certificate of Eligibility.
The best way to apply for your education benefits is online at Vets.gov. You can also apply for education benefits by doing any of the following options:
- Visit your nearest VA Regional Office to apply in person.
- Call 1-888-GI BILL-1 (888-442-4551) to have the application mailed to you.
Students who Have Received Notice of Educational Benefits Approval from VA:
Students who have already been approved for Educational Benefits merely need to notify the VA that they are changing where they are receiving their education by completing the following form:
- VA Form 22-1995: Request For Change of Program or Place of Training
Send this form in to the Muskogee Regional Office and send a copy to the NU certifying official to keep in your file. - Send your certificate of eligibility (COE) to Northwest University’s VA Certifying Official.
Step 3: Getting Started at NU
The form below is required for all students wanting to use their VA benefits at NU. This form will be kept in your file and used to get you set up in VA Once. If you have any questions about it, please email veterans@northwestu.edu
At this point you have applied to NU, you have been admitted to NU and you have already sent your COE to NU’s certifying official. Once your get registered for your first semester at NU, you will use the Current Students tab on the left hand side to submit that you have registered so the certifying official can send your enrollment to VA.
