Back to life, back to reality…August 18, 2011
Summer was absolutely wonderful: restful, exciting, hot & humid, cold & rainy, tasty and delicious. I had the pleasure of traveling to Hawaii, Japan, back to Hawaii, and finally to France. Here are some of the highlights:
Hawaii: hanging out at Kailua Beach, eating garlic shrimp from Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, savoring shaved ice from Matsumoto’s Shaved Ice, shopping at Ala Moana Center, browsing all the ABC Stores I could find, and of course, hanging out with my brother, sister-in-law, and mom.
Japan: meeting up with alums (Mako and Taka Minegishi, Aya Uchimura, Chikano Kinjo, Ken Tanaka, and Rebekha Smith), riding the bullet train, spotting geishas at the Kyoto Train Station, reconnecting with relatives in Okinawa, eating wagyu beef shabu-shabu, among other delicacies.
France: seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time, going to boulangeries for bakery items, waking up in a mill house in Normandy, getting stung by nettles (not a good highlight, but I certainly won’t forget it), visiting the Camembert Cheese Museum, walking through the Bayeux Tapestry exhibit, and driving the coast of the D-Day Beaches.
And now that my travels are done, for the summer, I’m ready to head back to the office. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
