Hansei is a co-educational, Christian university. The name Hansei describes the university’s desire to be a University of Korea (Han) and the world (Sei). The University’s chancellor is Reverend Doctor Yonggi Cho, the pastor of the largest church in the world, Yoido Full Gospel Church. The school, run by President Kim Sunghae Cho, is making strides in many fields. The school’s IT department is very strong and the school has recently developed a computer mouse that can be used by severely disabled people. Hansei is growing to be a very influential campus.
Visas:
You are required to have a D-2 Visa to study in Korea. To apply for this Visa from the Korean consulate or embassy near you , you must submit:
- An Application form found at www.hikorea.go.kr
- Passport
- Certificate of admission
- Bank Statement or a scholarship certificate proving you maintain a minimum balance or have a scholarship certificate
- Two photos
- Visa Processing Fee
- Any other documents required by Korean Consulate
Language:
On campus many professors and students speak English. However there is plenty of access to non-English speakers and Korean language classes. Hansei claims to have the best Korean language instructors in Korea. Hansei has Korean classes available during the winter and summer. There is a regular intensive course that lasts eight weeks and a short four-week intensive course. There are beginner, intermediate and advanced courses. During the intensives, there are many cultural activities as well.
Campus Life:
Hansei provides outlets for student welfare and community such as a fitness center, an affordable cafeteria, and a multimedia center geared towards foreign language education. There are Free Talking Rooms in every building on campus where students can speak with foreign professors. There is also the “Snack Bar” where students can spend time in English conversation with professors and students with discounts on snacks and coffee for those who speak a language other than Korean. The campus also holds amazing research facilities for theology, environmental science, IT, and music therapy. In five years, two of these research facilities were collectively awarded around 5 billion dollars for their research!
