Costa Rica (Spring)

Begin to uncover the richness of Costa Rican life through this semester program that involves a combination of rigorous academics, intensive service, lively interaction with local residents and travel. Live with carefully selected host families and work in relevant ministry sites in Desamparados on the outskirts of the capital city of San Jose. Gain so much more than tourist knowledge about the region, it people and their values.

Costa Rica (Fall)- Spanish Intensive

Join Students International for a semester of ministry and cultural exploration in the beauty and diversity of Costa Rica. Through a combination of study, service, travel, and lively interaction with local residents, begin to uncover the richness of Costa Rican life.

Nicaragua (Fall)

Join us for meaningful ministry and cultural exploration in Nicaragua. Through a semester of rigorous academics, intensive service, travel and spirited interaction with local residents, begin to uncover the rich layers of Nicaraguan life. Living with a host family and relating with Nicaraguans in vocational ministry sites in the town of Masaya will lay the foundation for your exploration of the region, its people and their values. It will help you form bonds and gain insights that you will never forget.

International Development Theory and Practice (3 credits)
Peoples and Cultures of Nicaragua (3 credits)
International Internship in Nicaragua (3-4 credits)
Spanish (6 credits)
Earn 15-16 college credits. Courses are taught by both Nicaraguan and U.S. professors. Choose from beginning to advanced course. Receive personal instruction at language school.

Internships
Students International Interns serve 4-12 months in one of four different Latin American Countries. Job descriptions vary, but all interns learn Spanish, experience a new culture, are deeply involved in ministry and form relationships that could last a lifetime. Experienced mentors support interns in fields such as healthcare, education, social work, microfinance, construction and administration. Interns also train in ministry, leadership, intercultural skills and community development.

Cost:
Less than $1,250 per month (not including airfare).
SI encourages interns to raise support for their experience and interns with student loans may raise additional support to apply to loan payments.
Education:
Interns may choose to work on a Master’s Degree while serving with SI, but this is not required.
