SOAR – Summer Orientation, Advising, and Registration
← Back to Advising Information
SOAR is your opportunity to visit campus, interact with other incoming students, and meet key individuals who will help you along your academic journey.
What should I expect at SOAR? SOAR events include sessions with Academic Success, activities with other incoming students, time to build your profile on the Eagle website, and 1-on-1 meetings with your Academic Advisor and Financial Services Advisor. These 1:1 meetings are a great time to get to know your advisors and ask specific questions about credits, classes, and financial aid.
How should I prepare for SOAR? Before you meet with your advisors, you should complete the following steps:
- Submit your FAFSA
- Submit your High School and/or College transcripts
- Submit any test scores, including AP/IB exams and SAT/ACT/CLT scores
- Complete any placement tests emailed to you by Admissions or Advising
How can I make the most of SOAR? Be fully present in each of your sessions/meetings and come prepared with any questions you may have about your academics or financial aid. Take the opportunity to establish a relationship with your Academic Advisor as they will be an important part of your journey at NU!
