Graduation Requirements

The goal of all degree planning and advising – graduation! But what do you need to accomplish to get across that stage? Read on to find out!

Graduation Checklist

To graduate with your Bachelor’s degree, you must complete all of the following:

Complete at least 122 credits

Complete at least 25% of total and major credits at NU

Complete all of your Core Curriculum requirements

Complete all of your major’s requirements

Complete your final semester of work at NU

Achieve at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA

Clear any remaining financial obligations

How to Track your Progress

Your degree progress is viewable in Self-Service under the “Registration” tab. If you have over 75 credits, you should have an official degree audit created by the Registrar’s Office under “Academic Plan”. If you have not yet completed 75 credits, then you will have an unofficial degree audit created by Advising under “What-If”.

How to Apply for Graduation

If you are intending to graduate in the current academic year (2025-2026), please complete the Intent to Graduate form:

Intent to Graduate 2025-2026 Form – Registrar’s Office

Be sure to apply at least three/four months in advance (if graduating in December, September at the latest; if graduating in May, January at the latest). If you are on track to graduate in the current academic year, you should receive an email from graduation@northwestu.edu prompting you to complete the form.

Once you complete the form, you will begin receiving regular emails from Graduation providing updates and information about all things related to graduating, including your final degree audit, cap and gown orders, and more!
